Adams Attending National Rural Phone Meeting

Roy D. Adams, president of the Texas Rural Telephone Co-Operatives, and manager of the Comanche County Telephone Co-Operative, traveled to St. Louis with plans to meet Southwestern Bell officials on fair arrangements for small exchanges. New County Home Demonstration Agent Appointed Here

Miss Ruth K. Stringer, formerly assistant Home Demonstration Agent of Bell County, is named Comanche County Home Demonstration Agent effective March 15. County Judge Dwight M. Brightman announced the appointment after approval by the Commissioners Court. She succeeds Mrs. Dorothy Diddle who resigned last summer to teach in Austin County. Stringer, 22, a Texas Woman’s University graduate, will start duties and outline initial plans.

Jack Moore announces Comanche National Bank has cut par value from 197.00 to 20.00 dollars and issued five new shares for one old share. Total capital remains over 415,009 dollars with profits and reserves unchanged. The move aims to improve flexibility and ease of buying and selling.

Jordan and Walker Return From Dayton Purchase

Jordan, proprietor of Jordan Implement Company in Comanche, and Norvel Walker of Sidney returned home after a stormy Dallas to Chicago to Dayton flight. They bought two trucks and two pickups for Jordan’s business and toured the International Harvester assembling plant in Dayton.

Livestock Barn Upgrades Near Goal in Comanche County

Comanche County Livestock Association leaders reported on the 1960 Junior Livestock Show and outlined plans for the 1961 event. Barn improvements total $2,328.27 with $1,495.26 paid and $833.51 remaining. D. F. Caraway praised the 1960 show and noted barn value over $7,500. Prizes totaling $1,016 were awarded in 1960. show costs of $1,281.69 are paid in full.

The Comanche girls beat Dublin 52 40 as Troy Norris coached the boys to an 82 54 win. The Maidens finish 7 1 in district behind Granbury and Hamilton while the Indians sit third after a season of 14 9. Connie Butler Sylvia Timmons and Rita Welch aided the locals. Seniors John Gleaton Gary Swearengin and Richard Terrell led scoring in a strong closing game. Dublin connected on 23 of 26 free throws.
