Funeral services for Mrs. Kelley held in Comanche

General Services held Thursday for Mrs. Emerson Kelley 83 a native of Belton died at home February 9 after a long illness. Burial was in Wood Cemetery. She was born July 11 1855 and lived in Bell and Comanche counties most of her life. Survived by fourteen children and five grandchildren. Numerous relatives attended the service led by A Edwin Wilson.

Three Men Drown In Hamilton Lake

Three men drowned during a fishing trip on Hamilton Lake near Ejidson. Cecil H. Whittenton of Houston A G Whittenton Jr of Dallas and Sloan of Hamilton were in a pleasure boat that was found undamaged. Mrs Sloan alerted authorities after the men failed to return. all bodies were recovered by Sunday afternoon.

Blanket Girl Hurt In Auto Mishap Near Blan

Miss Dorothy Fay Evans of Blan was hospitalized a day after a car carrying Blanket people overturned six miles north of Blan Saturday night. She suffered two severe injuries to the right arm. Other occupants Earl Dabney Perry Gleaton and Miss Maude Dabney escaped injury.

P Co. Camp of Roswell New Mexico was in Comanche Thursday en route to his home after a call with his brother A J Camp Sidney. C C Camp came to Comanche.

Longtime Sidney Resident Camp Recalled in Local Note

A 53 year Sidney resident moved to New Mexico in 1907 for ranching and returned to Comanche after eight years. The piece recalls his early engagement with The Chief starting in 1885 and highlights Allen Wesley McCullough, three year old grandson of A. J. Camp, who once became The Chief’s youngest subscriber through his grandfather’s donation.

Bramlette Speaks At Lions Club

Superintendent J. D. Bramlette was principal speaker at the Comanche Lions Club bi weekly luncheon. He discussed the international relation between the United States and Great Britain. Two new members were initiated Bob Baker and Roy Brannon. C A Greene was voted as a new member to be initiated later. A black face minstrel will be given by the White Point Community Club at the church Saturday night February 18 at 7 30. Mrs Dan Smoot and Mrs J V Williams backed by the audience will sing spirituals and Mrs Hamp Bragg and Mrs Charlie Allen will cut the pigeon wing. Mesdames J V Williams Alton Keeler J G Haas Fount Wood and Mrs Alice Buckmaster assisted by the audience will sing Southern melodies. A small admission fee will be charged.

Mrs. E. W. Woolsey Honored On Birthday Dinner

Mrs. E W Woolsey was surprised with a birthday dinner on Sunday February 7 at her home. Forty three guests attended including her husband and all children except Clarence Woolsey of Brownwood. Attendants included extended Woolsey family and friends from Cotton Grove Soda Springs Elm Grove Manche Gustine and Clebourne. She received many gifts and the day was described as memorable.
