Comanche Scouts Observe Nationwide Boy Scout Week
Comanche joins the nation in observing Boy Scout Week from February 8 to 15. The town boasts a large scouting group active over the past year, including collecting about 60,000 pounds of waste paper. Plans include building a native stone Scout Cabin near the reservoir donated by E. E. Anthony. Comanche honors former Scouts in the armed forces and notes upcoming Eagle Scouts Dale Biggs Bobby Marshall and Lawrence Samuels as well as a growing Cub Scout Pack of 25. The roster lists 46 Boy Scouts with ranks from Tenderfoot to Eagle and names many members. The Lions Club sponsors the Boy Scouts. Council members include J. R. Fanes, Sutton Dudley, and Wayne Evridge. Cub Pack 19 organized with First Methodist Church as sponsor. three Dens meet weekly at Den Mothers’ homes with Den Mothers Mrs. Joe Tupin Mrs. Travis Cunningham and Mrs. Buddie Dillin leading groups of named Cubs and their families.

Seaman Braziel II Commended for Pacific Service
Seaman Second Class John T. Braziel son of Mrs Ids Braziel Emory and grandson of Mrs W A Tipps Comanche was commended by Commander Task Unit 3152 on November 20 aboard the S S Cape Ned Dick for alertness conduct and efficiency during the Leyte invasion in the Central Philippines. He entered the Navy April 18 1944 and began service June 30 proceeding to the Pacific.

The Comanche showman Bill Lane won top honors with a Shorthorn steer in the Houston Fat Stock Show club division. Lane bred by J Doss Miller placed third overall as Hereford entries took grand and reserve championships. The Houston grand champion, owned by Stuart Henderson, sold for a record 7200 dollars.
