Acres Burn in Neely Pasture Near Newburg
Several acres of grass burned in the Neely pasture near Newburg last Sunday. About 200 acres were consumed as a strong southwest wind pushed the flames toward creeks and roads, with suppression only possible from nearby ditches. The fire started when youths attempted to smoke an animal from a hollow tree. no serious damage is feared and field insects harmful to stock were likely destroyed.
New Base Ball Team Formed at Local High School
Report notes a new base ball team at the high school with students believing in healthy bodies and keen knowledge. The boys have pursued summer finances and achieved a favorable result after a week of petition circulation.
In Memory of Little Dogia Irene Gafford
Infant daughter of Bro and Sis ter D J Gafford died Jan 6 1912 at five months. Her body laid to rest in Indian Creek cemetery awaiting the resurrection morning. Parents sorrowful yet trust in God for the sweet bye bye where partings end and bliss begins.

Infant dies of pneumonia near Comanche
A nine month old boy, son of Mr and Mrs T N Swindall, died of pneumonia at their home three miles east of Comanche last Friday night after a brief illness that began Monday. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon with Mrs S C Tubbs of Harben, mother of Mrs Swindall, in attendance.

Old Soldiers Hold Regular Meeting at Court House
The old soldiers met in regular session at the courthouse Sunday afternoon with good attendance. They decided to add Confederate dead names not yet on the Oakwood Cemetery monument. Several talks were given by members, and Mr. A. B. Haworth addressed the gathering. The next meeting will be at the Baptist church if agreeable, with invitations sent by some attendees.

The February meeting of the Comanche County Commissioners Court convened with Judge J. Rieger and all commissioners, lasting five days.
