Comanche Athletes Shine Across Decades In Texas
Comanche earns a lasting reputation as an athletic hub where youngsters begin football in grade school and rivals compete across private schools and colleges. Early coaches included Oscar Callaway, with local stars like Farene Neely gaining nationwide fame, and alumni spread to Texas Tech, Baylor, SMU, and the University of Texas. The county now expands sports facilities, adding gymnasiums in Beattie, Sidney, and more, amid a rising interest in girls basketball and county-wide championships.
