Real Souvenir From War Front Reaches Home
Morton Alvis of the Signal Corps in France sent a piece of canvas from a German aeroplane shot down behind the lines. The aircraft was two miles high when hit by an aircraft gun, drawing a rush for scraps as it fell. Alvis, a Renzi Mississippi telegraph operator, joined at the war’s start. This is among the first such souvenirs to reach the area.
