County Sends Sixty Five Men to Sonora Artillery Division
A group of 65 county men departed Wednesday December 19 by Frisco train to Fort Meade California to join the coast artillery division. Notifications had advised reporting at 8:30 am and the muster proceeded in the district court before Judge J H Arnold and H N Goodson. The train carried announced names among them RB Carwile Captain Radgar Jenkins Henry Rainey James Southall James A Vinson Eddie T Riordon A B Kennedy Lee Lester W D Chapman Ivy Bender and many others amid cheers from friends and relatives as they left for Angeles California.

Draft Board Starts Mailing Out Questionnaires

Camp Bowie Soldier Dies At Home Of Parents
Arthur Hughes of the Hazeldell community died at his parents home last Saturday after returning from Camp Travis with a furlough relapse. He contracted the fatal disease while in service and passed away after the home trip proved too much for him. The obituary notes his excellent character and his service to his country.
