County Judge Fred Hall announced courthouse offices will close Tuesday afternoon December 24 and reopen Monday December 30. City Hall and most town offices close Wednesday and Thursday with limited exceptions for Christmas Day.
The executive committee of West Central Texas Council of Governments approved a Comanche County grant request for 52395 from the U S Department of Agriculture to expand roadside soil erosion control. The panel also approved 51830 to Texas Dept of Community Affairs via Central Texas Opportunities Inc for several programs. Brown County share expected at 5000.
Comanche Indians and Maidens plan Christmas play with both varsity and junior teams in multiple tournaments. Maidens open Friday at 11 30 against Rogers in the Midway Holiday bracket with finals set Saturday. Indians face San Saba in Howard Payne tourney with extra games Friday and Saturday. Junior varsity squads also enter DeLeon Bearcat Tournament with multiple matchups. Comanche County inmate Paul Sammons, 19, has again escaped from Comanche County Jail, just 45 days after a prior escape. He faces a 2- to 5-year sentence in Huntsville for escaping, with his record including burglary forgery and a probated term. Authorities report multiple conflicting accounts of how he fled.
