Soldier Clifford Wallace Wounded in Action in France
Grand Prairie residents Mr and Mrs F Dye Wallace received a War Department telegram on December 1 reporting their son Pfc Clifford F Wallace wounded in action on November 14 in France. A 1941 Proctor High School graduate and former Southern Aircraft worker, he was inducted March 1 1943 and served at Ft Lewis Camp Phillips and in overseas duty since September.

Harold Roberts Commended For Action In Navy
Harold LaVern Roberts GM2c U S Navy was commended at Captain's Mast in the Pacific by Co B Laning Commander for able performance at his battle station in the Battle of Surigao Straits. Roberts, son of Mr and Mrs Carl Roberts Comanche, is a Comanche High School graduate and attended Texas A&M before enlisting. His ship's efficiency aided the action. Captain Billy Dillin landed safely in Saipan, reported by his mother.

Allcorn, finance chair, says the January second week is likely for the campaign restart. About $7,000 has been raised, with local civic groups aiding efforts. Checks are mailed to J. B. Sam Renfro Claimed By Death In Mercer Gap Community
Sam Renfro long time Mercer Gap resident died at his Zephyr home on Sunday night. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 PM in Zephyr with interment at Mercer Gap Cemetery. He was a relative of Oscar Callaway.
