Army Recruiting Station Moves to Brownwood and Comanche

Sergeant William J. Hess announced week long shifts for the Army recruiting station from the Brownwood Post Office basement in the morning and Comanche County Court house basement in the afternoon. He called for aviation cadets and ground force recruitment, noting 32 applications the week ending December 13 and listing Brownwood and Comanche names among those sent to Dallas for induction.

Rebekahs Elect New Officers Bench

The local Rebekah Lodge has announced officers: Annabelle Lee as Noble Grand, Will Hambrick as Vice Grand, Faye Norrid as Secretary, and Mae Cameron as Treasurer. The annual Christmas tree program is set for Thursday night December 18.

Public Health Unit Formed in Comanche under Defense Aid

A local chapter of the Public Health and Medical Aid Organization for National Defense is being organized in Comanche under County Judge H Lockridge, Mayor Clyde House and Dr C W Gray. Topics include public health nursing sanitation local health needs disease control and immunization. Dr Kelley will speak in Leon on Immunization. Arthur McKamie Jr a De Leon High School graduate from 1938 and Navy recruit of two years died aboard the USS Arizona during the Pearl Harbor attack. Parents received Navy confirmation Tuesday.
