Postage Rates For Mailing Christmas Cards Explained

Postmaster J Eanes explains rates for Christmas cards and parcels. Unsealed envelopes cost 1.5 cents nationwide, sealed to a local recipient 1 cent, sealed to a mail route 2 cents, sealed to another post office 3 cents. First class for sealed mail. unsealed treated as waste paper if undeliverable. Pack parcels well, address on one side, note fragility for handling. Extra packing for 1 extra pound adds one cent within 150 miles.

Ex-Convict Faces Burglary Charge Near Comanche

Gilbert Cleary and Nellie Bilbey, brought from Fort Worth by Sheriff Wid Spivey and Deputy Perry St Clair, are jailed in Comanche on burglary charges for the Co D Cuthbertson farm home burglary north of Comanche. Items recovered include quilts blankets silverware and a woman's coat. Cleary has prior penitentiary terms including a prior burglary from Comanche County. No bond set.

Work Order For 65 273 County Road Project

Comanche County received WPA road funding as one of 29 Texas counties. The grant totals 65 273 with 33 590 for Road Improvement Precinct No 1 and 21 683 for the county, supplying 79 WPA workers to complete the May-Sidney road and build bridges near Sipe Springs.

A radio was stolen Thursday morning from the office of Dr. J. O. Lane. Dr. Lane was away part of the morning. upon return he found the radio missing. The office had been unlocked.

Mrs Jim Jones and son Jim T of Ballinger spent the weekend in Comanche with daughter Mrs J P Howard. W R Justice of Howland and daughter Mrs Mary Lee Hamilton and her children Joe Dick and Martha Hamilton of Mount Pleasant visited Dr R W H Hamilton and family. Nieces Suzane Sadler and Jeanette Sadler of Gatesville accompanied them. They returned to Cratesville Saturday night.
