Fleming Oak Survives Amid Court House Square Redesign
The Fleming Centennial Oak near Comanche’s public square will remain outside the court house lawn plans, standing alone as horses and mules once used the area as a hitching place. County legends say it saved Uncle Matt Fleming from Indians, while authorities prepare to remove other hackberries during a $185,000 courthouse landscaping project.
