Death by gunshot ends life of R F C Flanagan in Comanche

R F C Flanagan 53, a Comanche street employee, died of gunshot wounds at the local hospital Sunday December 7, four and one half hours after shooting himself with a 99 rifle in the yard of his East Highland Street home. Funeral services were held Monday at the Comanche Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Gilham and Rev. A. M. Stone officiating. Survived by widow Alma Lodera Culberson Flanagan, three children (one deceased), three brothers Jim Orb and Henry Flanagan, and a sister Mrs Lucy Jackson.

Lockett Panthers Rally For Regional Football Title

The Lockett Panthers won the regional Six-Man title with a 48-12 victory over Gustine at Indian Memorial Stadium. Gustine led 12-0 before Lockett, led by Holland and Mints, pulled away with two touchdowns before halftime and dominated the second half, aided by injuries to Gustine players Butch McDougal and Gaylon Jones.

Doctor Gray in Critical Condition at Harris Memorial

Dr. A J Gray II was brought to Harris Memorial hospital in Fort Worth early this week and was reported Thursday to be in critical condition. Pflugerville Panthers Win Six Man Regional Title

The Pflugerville Panthers defeated the Sidney Eagles 32-6 to claim the regional six man football title at House Park Austin. Chief Publishes Children Letters To Santa Claus

The Chief will publish children letters to Santa in the Christmas edition mailed Dec 23. Primary teachers collect letters from county schools. Marl Alexander and his Texas Wranglers will perform from the courthouse square for about an hour. A free 90 minute picture show starts 10:30 Wednesday morning with two showings. A Christmas package of candy gum and a balloon will be given to each child. Goodwill Day drawing offers $150 in cash around 3:00.

Chief to Be Out Early Next Week

The Chief will be mailed a day earlier next week with the Wednesday, Dec 17 mailing date instead of Thursday. The Christmas edition will also be published early, mailing Tuesday, Dec 23 so subscribers receive it on Christmas Eve.

Comanche hosts its fourth annual Christmas Pilgrimage Friday night December 12 from 6 30 to 9 30 p m.
