Former Comanche Men Die in Colorado Blizzard Tragedy
Three travelers from Comanche County died in a Colorado blizzard after their truck stalled on Mesa de Mayo. Carroll Martin Lewis 41 and his brother James le Grande Lewis 29 of Hot Springs New Mexico, and eight-year-old James Robert Griffith from near Kim Colorado perished while seeking shelter. Coroner Ed Toupal noted they may have frozen or died from injuries as searchers recovered bare bodies 14 miles from the stalled vehicle.

City Paving Project To Resume Next Week

Van Zandt Receives Two Year Term in Car Death Case
Presley Van Zandt of Zephyr was found guilty of murder without malice in the July 7 automobile crash near here. He received a two year penitentiary sentence. Mrs. Thorpe A. Andrews of Fort Worth died. her husband was injured and treated in Brownwood. Sid Witten, another rider, died later. Witnesses testified Van Zandt was intoxicated. defense claimed he was not driving. Andrews testified the car owned by Witten was speeding without lights and on the wrong side, leading to the head on collision.
