Comanche County Turkey and Pecan Crops Report
The county is not cotton dependent and has several paying industries led by turkey and pecan crops. About six car loads of turkeys valued around $6,000 each have shipped, with roughly half of the county’s turkeys marketed. Pecan output is strong with an estimated fifty car loads, about half sold, and total crop value between $125,900 and $9,000.00.

Lions Observe Social Evening Entertainment by Ladies
The Lions club held its usual social luncheon last Monday evening entertaining wives as part of their fifth Monday custom. The program was contributed by the ladies and featured songs and sketches lampooning the shortcomings of the average man.
Leaves to Take Charge of Band at Longview
Director Smith of the Comanche Band leaves Tuesday for Longview to head the band there. He has led the Comanche band since last August and earned wide friendship among local musicians. The Comanche directors plan to maintain a band and seek a suitable director soon.

Mrs. Julia L Neavett aged 89 dies at the Goodsons home in Comanche after a Baptist Christian life from Tennessee birth August 11 1837. She married Thomas Jefferson Neavitt in 1856 and lived in Austin Gatesville and Comanche with her son and daughter in law Mrs G H Goodson. Funeral at Oakwood Cemetery Gatesville conducted by Rev Ben F Hearn with burial beside her husband and son. She leaves numerous relatives in Texas and New Mexico and Arizona.

J C Ellis Buried Monday
James Clarence Ellis died in Warren Arizona on Thursday the 25th and was buried at Comanche Monday at 3 pm. The Arean Legion honored him with a full military funeral conducted by Rev Noel P Wilkinson and Rev Jd M Wynne. Ellis, born in Comanche September 17 1881, spent most of his life in the west and in Arizona. A veteran of two wars he served first in the Spanish American War and later in World War I with the 27th Engineers, stationed at Camp Meade Annapolis and then in France. He is survived by his mother and two sisters Mrs Jennie Garrett and Mrs Ollie Tripp his wife and seven month old son.

J J Hicks longtime Comanche County resident died at his son N S Hicks home ten miles south of Comanche on Sunday November 28 at age 87. He served in the 60th Georgia Infantry and fought at Gettysburg Fredericksburg and Winchester. His burial was in Oakwood Cemetery after services by the Meconic lodge and pastor H S Anelin.

Commissioners Court Sets Bonds For Incoming Officers
The Commissioners Court in called session last Wednesday set bonds for the incoming officers. County Clerk 7000 dollars, Sheriff 6000, Treasurer 10000, Tax Collector 104000. Bonds for other officers are fixed by law, with reductions of 6000 for Treasurer and 17000 for Tax Collector to reflect tax valuations.

County Missionary Begins Work in Comanche County
Rev. W. A. Thornton of Cooper Texas has been elected county Missionary by the Comanche County Baptist Association. He preaches his first sermons at the Board Church east of town and arrives from Delta County where he served as pastor and County Missionary for three years. His family includes Mrs Thornton and two teenagers. They reside one block south of the Baptist parsonage.

A severe automobile wreck occurred Friday afternoon on the Brownwood road beyond the Bryson Ranch. Dr McFarland of Abilene, head surgeon at Alexander Sanitarium, drove a Pierce Arrow Roadster and suffered a broken leg while a companion was seriously injured and later flown to Dallas. The car was wrecked and sent to Dallas for repairs.
