First Grape Festival in Texas Draws 5000 in Comanche
More than five thousand county residents attended Comanche County’s inaugural grape festival. Local businessmen sponsored the event with the Comanche Chief newspaper, plus a watermelon feast celebrating the paper’s fifty third year. Speakers included Rev. J C Boyd and Brownwood’s 340 White. Prizes for fruit displays were awarded to C D Cuthbertson, B Patton, and R L Lane.
