Sidney farmer killed as cattle buyer is charged with murder

The shooting at the Damon Hall home in Sidney left Chester Carouth, 40, dead from three shotgun blasts. Cattle buyer and ranchman Hall, 51, admitted firing the fatal shots and faces a murder charge with malice. DA Byron McClellan leads the investigation with local sheriffs and deputies. Hall posted a $10,000 bond and awaits grand jury action as details emerge of a long running conflict between Hall and Carouth.

Leonard Bonick to Open Ben Franklin Store in Comanche

Leonard Bonick, longtime Ben Franklin operator from Chicago Heights Illinois, becomes owner of the Ben Franklin Store in Comanche Texas. He aims to have the store in the new building on the square open by mid September and describes the chain as independent with home ownership, variety goods, self service and toys. Abilene Couple Dead In Head-On Crash Near Comanche

A Beattie area collision on State Highway 36 left Mr. and Mrs. Reuben R. Strickland dead at a Comanche hospital. Injured were William G Av enshine and Dr D T Thrower who were hospitalized. The crash occurred about 9 45 p m Saturday during rain as Strickland and Thrower traveled east and west respectively.

Comanche Public Schools Set First Day Of 1964 65

The Comanche Public Schools announce the first day of regular classes for 1964 65 on Thursday August 27 with standard dismissal times. Bus and non bus schedules vary by grade with high school at 3 30 pm. Lunch prices remain as last year with weekly tickets and daily rates listed.
