Comanche County Commissioners approve Howard Westmoreland a certified peace officer from Lamkin as a deputy under the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program. Westmoreland will serve county wide and as Gustine Lamkin resident peace officer starting Monday August 22 with a county vehicle to be provided in coming weeks.

A survey of 2,750 colleges shows nationwide costs up about four percent from 1976. Private four year costs rise to 4905 for residents, public colleges to 3005. In Comanche County some 380 students head to college, adding about 1.31 million dollars to local families.
