Pioneer Woman 181 Years Dies After Illness
Mrs. Lauran Patterson wife of M A Gus Patterson died at the family home northwest of DeLeon last Tuesday after about two weeks illness. She was 181 years, two months and six days old and born in Pontotoc county Mississippi. She had eight children from first marriage, three survive Will Pittman Henry Pittman and Mrs Dove Gilmore. She moved to Texas in 1896 and lived in the area over four score years. A devout Baptist, funeral held at DeLeon cemetery with Rev Willie Scaggs officiating and burial in the family grounds. Out-of-town relatives included Willie Paterson Reeves Patterson Guy Patterson and Miss Estelle from Rotan and Mrs W H Nowlin from Rotan.
