Comanche Board Elects Mrs Froh Sixth Grade Teacher

At a special meeting the Comanche School Board hired Mrs Kenneth Froh as a sixth grade classroom teacher. Mrs John Beaty will move back to the primary department as one of three first grade teachers. Bread and milk contracts were awarded to Mead's Bakery and Mrs Bairds Bakery Abilene and Foremost Dairies respectively.

22nd Annual REA Meeting Sets Here For Friday Night

The Comanche County Electric Cooperative plans its 22nd annual meeting at Indian Memorial Stadium with about 2000 members expected from seven counties. Registration 7 to 8, session at 8, two new directors elected for three-year terms from Districts 1 and 2. Entertainment includes Jimmy Blanton and His Hired Hands and ventriloquists Grover Rowe and Louie and Sunshine. Attendance prizes feature a portable TV and home appliances. De Leon Peach and Melon Festival Set for Four Day Event

De Leon prepares for the 46th Annual Peach and Melon Festival August 10 to 13 with pre festival queen selection on Tuesday. A Wednesday street parade, queen coronation, Western music, gospel singing, Braga Sisters show, fiddlers Friday, square dancing Saturday, and a public watermelon slicing on Saturday afternoon. Indian Band to Begin Basic Marching Practice

Comanche Indian Senior Band will start basic marching and playing practice on Tuesday morning August 9 at 7 30. Band Director Jack King urges full attendance as the football season approaches with about 70 members expected. Drum major is Gayle Anthony.
