County Agent R E Burleson announces Comanche County's Fourth Annual Dairy Day at the Rodeo Grounds. Mrs. W. F. Loudermilk Dies at Home in Downing

Mrs. Walter F. Loudermilk age about 75 died suddenly Tuesday night at her Downing home while seated. Funeral services were held Thursday at Downing Church of Christ with interment in Downing Cemetery. She was daughter of Val Wilson, pioneer of Comanche County and mother of twelve children.

Modern Frozen Foods Locker Plant Opens In Comanche

Comanche launches a new modern Frozen Food Locker Plant on West Grand Avenue with first baby beef stored by W C Chilton president of the Comanche National Bank and cattleman. Housed in a remodeled building, 60 additional lockers were ordered last week and more are available. A slaughtering and processing unit will operate with an official opening and open house planned. Patrons are urged to call for keys and arrange with officials before bringing produce. Mr and Mrs H C Bowman of Dawson visited here last week.

Nazi Prisoner John Warren Reported as POW

Mrs. Lora Faye Warren of Comanche Route 1 received a letter April 17 from her husband Pfc. John Warren saying he was a prisoner of war in Germany. This is the first news since he was reported missing December 16 after serving with the 106th Division in the Belgium breakthrough. Warren spent two years in the Illeutian Islands and returned home last June after going to Europe last October. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. C G Warren of Gorman.

School Play At Lamkin May 4

The annual Junior-Senior play Seeing Double will be performed at Lamkin School Friday night May 4. Admission is 10 and 25 cents for this three act comedy.

Stewart brothers in arms span three services

Pvt Wayne Stewart of Comanche is at Fort Sam Houston for basic training after leaving Arthur Chevrolet. He is the sixth in his family to join the armed forces, with five brothers serving: Ned CM2c in the Sea Bees, Harry BM IC Navy, William BE BM1c Navy, Paul Pvt in the Army in Italy, and Rector C S1c with the Pacific fleet.

Pfc Wayne Milner Killed in Action in Germany

Pfc Wayne Milner 21 son of Mr and Mrs Carl Milner of Gap was killed in action in Germany on April 7 official word to his parents says. Born April 23 1924 in the Gap community he attended Sidney High School and had served two years with overseas duty since last January.

Women Sought to Sort War Aid Clothing Next Week

Twenty women are wanted to help assort donated clothing for the United Nations relief effort. County Chairman W Z Compton asks volunteers to notify him or leave word at The Chief or the tax office at the courthouse with J E Lightfoot. If twenty women volunteer, sorting can be completed in half a day. otherwise several days. Compton will notify volunteers of their report time.

Wounded in Action Adam Sliger Reported in England

Comanche resident Technical Sergeant Adam F. Sliger is wounded in action in Germany and is hospitalized in England. The relatives who received the news through his letter say he is doing fairly well, though lonely, and hope to hear from family and friends soon.

Clothing Drive Seeks Donations in Comanche County

Comanche County calls for spare clothing for Allies as drive gains support. Residents are urged to drop items at post offices, schools, or the courthouse before May 1. Outside centers should bring donations to Comanche by late April with shipments planned mid next week. Committees led by H. Thate A. P. From Overseas Return For Gustine Soldier

S/Sgt. Thomas Eugene Colley of Company C 81st Mechanized Cavalry Recon Squadron is home on furlough to Gustine visiting his parents and sister. He wears four battle stars and the Good Conduct Medal for campaigns from Ireland to Italy including Oran Cassino Anzio and Rome. He enlisted in 1941 landed overseas 1942 and will rejoin his unit in Northern Italy after leave.

Pvt Fred Huse arrives in Comanche on furlough after over two years with US Army overseas mainly in Iran. He visits his mother Mrs Clara Carpenter and daughters Helen 11 and Edith 9. Huse, a former printer turned electrician, describes Persian life and the heavy lend lease flow to Russia.

Missing in Action: Sergeant Bob Wetzel Over Germany

Sergeant Bob Wetzel 24 of San Angelo and former Comanche resident vanished in action over Germany since April 7. A radio operator and gunner on a US Army Air Corps bomber, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Wetzel. His wife is Louise Brewer of Coleman.

Anthony Receives Good Conduct Medal and Battle Stars

Boyd Anthony, vice president of the State National Bank, has been awarded the Good Conduct Medal and his third battle star. He sent his wife a black Nazi medal he called the equivalent of the Purple Heart. He has been overseas since May 1944 and has been in Germany for the last month.
