Time Extended For Turning In World War II Book Photos

Mr. Elsing extended the deadline for turning in wartime service photos for a county history project. He aims to include every service member and notes photos can be submitted at the Texas Power & Light office in Comanche or the De Leon City Hall. He stresses no one is obliged to buy the book.

Municipal Band Planned Backers To Meet Tuesday

Ex students and townspeople who played in the band are urged to attend a 7:30 p.m. meeting at the High School Band Hall on Tuesday April 30 to revive a municipal band for summer concerts. Former members should leave names with Mr. Camp and return any band music they have.

Football under lights planned for May 3

More than forty Coman che High School players are out for spring practice led by coaches John Dyer and Glen Daugherty. A spring football game under lights is planned for Friday night May 3 with no admission. Two evenly matched teams will compete to showcase the 1946 Indians.

Cactus Inn Opens With Mexican Style in Comanche

The Cactus Inn opened last weekend two blocks east of the square on Fort Worth Highway. Owned by Mr and Mrs Bill Bennett the new restaurant features rock veneer tile and stucco with Mexican themed decor and seating for 85. Mrs Bennett is the former Mollie Jo Wells daughter of E G Wells. Comanche also reports a delayed opening at a new restaurant due to late supplies.

E W Bruner of Proctor announces his candidacy for Commissioner of Precinct No 3 in Comanche County. He cites experience and wartime material advantages and asks for voters support while thanking past backers. Thate Hosts City Firemen Fish Fry After Piggl y Wiggly Visit

The City Fire Department and guests enjoyed a Monday night fish fry prepared with Louisiana catfish by City Marshal Bud Newsome and J B Lowry. Assistant Chief John Carpenter and George Bagley served the meal while firemen Bob Carpenter helped. A brief program featured E G Wells sermon and music by Carl Brumbelow and Charles Ragels. Council members spoke and Porter Franks will organize the next fish fry after proposing to catch Lake Eanes big fish at his own expense.

Miss Frankie Dean Allen became the bride of Douglas Dobbs in a twilight ceremony April 2 at the Allen home Gustine. Rev Jim mie Dobbs officiated the double ring wedding attended by family and friends with a brief reception followed by a short honeymoon. The couple will reside in Weatherford.

Charles Carter district clerk of Comanche County announces his bid for State Representative in the 104th District, comprising Comanche and Mills Counties. He resides in Soda Springs and previously farmed before serving as district clerk. He plans a vigorous campaign and intends to meet voters across both counties before the election.

Durwood Johnston and a bride are visiting his parents Mr. and Mrs. Sam Johnston. He recently reenlisted in the Navy after three years of prior service.

State Patrols to arrest drivers without license

State Highway Patrolmen Joseph W Robertson and J T Ellison said drivers must carry a license or face arrest and charges under new orders from the State Department. They noted traffic stops may be used to test compliance and that even drivers with home licenses could be charged if found without the document.

Tate Purchases Moody's Cafe Renamed Tate's Cafe

W L Tate recently discharged from the Army bought Moody's Cafe from Wid Spivey and will operate it as Tate's Cafe. A 1939 UT Austin graduate and former Longhorn basketball captain, Tate led UT in the Southwest Conference and played at John Tarleton College. He plans to move his wife to Comanche when housing is found.

Revival at Local Church Grows In Clifton

Interest in a Church of Christ revival here is growing as strong crowds attend. Minister C. R. Nichols of Clifton preaches nightly. The revival will close with the night service as announced by R. C. Ledbetter, the local minister.
