A published list shows men who recently left Comanche for a Service Examination Center and passed the physical tests. Army names include Elmo L. Snow and Byron C. Rinehart. Navy names include Clarence L. Mahon Jr and John B. Weems, among many others in a lengthy roster.
C. W. Perry about 65 a Texas businessman and secretary treasurer of Perry Brothers Inc died at his Lufkin home Friday night Funeral services were held in Lufkin The firm operates 68 stores with the first opening years ago in Lufkin where its general office remains located.
The Gartman View Sing ing Convention will be held Sunday night at 8 30 p m at that place. A committee invites all singers and music lovers to attend and says special singers are expected from Dublin Brownwood Gorman Clairette Stephenville Bangs and other places.
W C Jenkins of De Leon announces his candidacy for Tax Assessor-Collector. A former teacher and gin operator, he describes a long residence in Comanche County and outlines his background in education, bookkeeping, and community devotion while appealing for voter support.
The Dailey Brothers Three Ring Circus returns to Comanche with two shows at 3 and 8 pm on the show grounds past the ball park. Ten elephants and other acts headline a two hour performance featuring a baseball act by elephants and stunts by a troupe of female stars.

The Grand Jury reports crime generally down in the county with most residents in essential work for the war effort. Four felonious indictments were returned after examining 63 witnesses over five days. They urge enforcement of gaming laws and citizen help to curb stock theft while praising officials’ cooperation.
Capt Herbert Goodson and Sgt Hardie Jones brothers in law have recently met in England according to word received by relatives. Goodson has been overseas about three months and Jones about a year.
Cpl Eltos Dudley son of Mrs C R M Dudley of Comanche has landed safely in England. He notes England is fine and the huts are better than those in the U S. he says the fog and cold are the only drawbacks, England feels like home.
Miss Mary Davenport is visiting in Lafayette Indiana. She is staying for a short time and will tour local sites and meet residents during her visit.
The Boy Scouts of Comanche plan a new building with land donated by E F Anthony and rock donated by R H Davenport. Scoutmaster Jack Wheat praised Lions Club backing and urged mothers and fathers to support, noting boys 12 and older who take the Scout Oath can join.
Gustine Troop held a Court of Honor on Thursday night naming those earning Second Class Badges. Scoutmaster Hays Franks and Assistant Scoutmaster J. E. Sigman led the event with Rev. James E. Clark presiding in place of chair N. E. Palmer. Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Greene were among attendees. Greene suffered a broken arm from a garden fall.
Local brief reports L. Fee is ill at his residence in Comanche, with neighbors noting a sudden fever and limited mobility. No official condition updates were provided by family.

The Comanche County Selective Service Board certified numerous men as Class 1 A on April 32. Names listed include Henry O. Spruill Houston Dawkins Lloyd Collins Alton E. Hall John W. Boswell and many others across BH and H designations.
Comanche County residents will donate through a four day Red Cross Blood Donor Service unit set up at the First Baptist Church. Donors 18 to 60 may participate with parental consent for those 18 to 21, aiding Army and Navy requirements for dried plasma.
Comanche County Livestock Association directors meet to review the 1944 Junior Livestock Show costing 427.60 with 251 in cash premiums for FFA and 4 H participants. They vote a two day 1945 show and pursue sheds. committees are named for beef dairy hog sheep and poultry.
Cameron acquires the Shamrock Cafe from A. F. Wells and takes charge. He has 30 years in the cafe business, mainly in Oklahoma, and is famed for fried chicken. The Shamrock will stay open daily until eight each evening. Cameron is a Comanche native, son of Mrs. J. M. Cameron, named for the late G. A. (Sandy) Chilton.
Miss Betty Sue Evans and three other women attended a per convention Monday in Dal. Exie Hasley M B Carter and Faye Tryheart were noted attendees.
