Grace Mildred, six months old, daughter of Mr and Mrs C B Boatman of Comanche, captured first prize at the recent Carnival Baby Show. The judge noted she is a prize-winning youngster and unlikely to be surpassed in the region.
City Council considered a plan to pave select Comanche streets using a war bond issue up to 20 000 repayable in 1 to 10 years. Private citizens would assist for permanent paving under supervision without new taxes, replacing current patchwork roads. Details to be worked out as the council moves to inaugurate the program.
Comanche gains further illumination as 100 watt lamps will be placed in front of almost every business, following the courthouse 1000 watt upgrade and new street lights. Jim D Slack led efforts with Texas Power and Light to secure business participation, with lights burning past midnight to illuminate the city. Merchants praised the low rate offered to light Comanche, Texas.
Claude Weaver, Oklahoma congressman, writes of Sunday worship as a source of peace and moral solace. He extols church music sermons and charitable works, arguing religion offers hope, light in darkness, and a humane civilization.
The Chief Exponent reports a coordinated effort by local pastors and leaders to establish Easter Sunday as Go to Church Day. An executive committee, including Rev Curlee and D C Clarke, outlined plans to have services across all churches and assist those unable to attend. The aim is to unite all Comanche Christians in church attendance for one day.
In Comanche a call urges about 1500 professing Christians to unite in a manwomanandchild churchwide effort for a religious move. Organizers insist collective prayer and steady work can turn many toward the Kingdom of God and ask every resident to attend church at one time.

Mr J F Tate is expanding his home this week with additions to the existing house and a fresh coat of paint. The work involves building enhancements and exterior updates.
Last Friday afternoon a quarrel in Palmer's Hasse store between A W Palmer and Bill Starks escalated to a fist fight. After separation they renewed the fight with Stark firing five shots at Palmer from a few feet away, all missing. Palmer knocked Stark senseless with an ax handle.
Miss Bessie Egbert states she will soon canvass the county to present her case for the County Clerk race and asks the public to reserve judgment until she has explained her candidacy.
A local committee launches a drive to fund the scout house reading rooms and high school band uniforms. Citizens are urged to support the effort and to purchase the fund drive items at Burks Mercantile Co.
A firm shipped 1325 dollars worth of eggs in one Tuesday shipment from Coman Che. The author notes a tub or wagon of eggs is small, but a pile reaching 95 400 eggs in a single heap shows the large scale of this output.
Precinct conventions are set for May 6 1916 to elect delegates to the county convention in Comanche on May 9 1916. The county convention will choose delegates for the Democratic convention in San Antonio on May 23 1916 to select Texas delegates for the national convention in St Louis June 14 1916 and to nominate electors at large from districts. J D Bonner is county chairman of the Comanche County Democratic Party.
The Boy Scouts are erecting a scout house on the corner opposite the M. E. Church and a wireless telegraphy station. The directed activities of the boys are producing results.
Property owner C. M. Albin states no hunting or fishing allowed on his land south of town. The notice restricts access to the premises, signaling enforcement of trespass rules.
Miss Gene St. Clair daughter of Mr and Mrs P St Clair was crowned Queen of the recent Carnival. She is described as a beautiful and popular girl whose pleasant ways make her idol of friends in the city.
This week we publish a list of Baby Beef Club members including Jno Sullivan Comanche Buster Coane Sipe Springs Clarke of Comanche No 1, bringing total to twenty two members in two weeks. The club plans to take members until May first as Comanche county joins late but eager to compete.
The Comanche high school track team travels Friday to Brownwood for the Daniel Baker track meet led by Coach Cunningham with runners Forrest Reeves W D Layne Carlton Woodward Jess Woodward Guy Allen Leslie Cooper Wayne Hill and Bowman. The squad shows promise and the D B C meet has grown into one of Texas best high school events.
Returns from hog shipments last Thursday March 6 netted shippers 8.98 per pound. The tag system proved a success showing eleven hogs killed safe with numbers 63 13 50 68 3 21 2 15 5 4 26. The association uses the results to assign responsibility for the peanut hog amid shipper dissatisfaction. The next date is May 1.
