The first Ladies Night in Comanche drew about 120 guests. A full, high quality program featured Minnie Curningham presiding, two readings by J R Morris Jr, and a toast by Rev John R Morris, with hearty thanks for a fine Woodmen Circle spread. THREE MEET TRAGIC DEATH THROUGH OVERTURNING OF CAR NEAR SIPE SPRINGS
Miss Minnie Ashinhurst Ruth Westbrook and Byron Anderson, all of Sipe Springs, died when their car left a culvert on the Sipe Springs De Leon road. The trio, en route to De Leon for a school declamation contest, were killed instantly as the car overturned into a branch after a late evening rain. Funeral services were held at the Sipe Springs Baptist church with large attendance.

W A Collins of Dallas gubernatorial candidate will speak at the court house in Comanche this afternoon at 2 o clock. He is the second candidate to address the community in this campaign, following Felix Robertson who spoke here on March 18. Lynch Davidson is scheduled to speak Saturday, April 12.

W. G. Dingus C. F. Jacobs and ALP Cox were elected aldermen and Tom F. Reese city attorney in the election held last Tuesday. Alderman results: Dingus 172 Jacobs 156 Coax 129 Rowland 126 McCollum 119. City attorney Reese 218. Total votes 231. Porter Whaley and Homer Wade of the West Texas Chamber of Commerce were traveling to Eastland for the district convention.

Home Destroyed by Fire in Brownwood
The Meyers home suffered total loss last Friday night from a fire thought caused by a defective flue. All family members except Mr Myers were away in Brownwood. Insurance partially covers the loss. Mrs Myers has been in a sanitarium three weeks and is expected home Sunday.

The Comanche county Interscholastic meet at De Leon last weekend featured strong literary wins and a dominant track performance. Gaynell Cawley earned first in essay while Coralie Kittle and Guy Webb took second in senior declamation. Pearl Albin and Ina Dingus won girls debate. Collin Bingwall led with 14 14 points, Danforth Wilkerson second with 15, and the relay team of Garland Johnson, Collin Dingwall, Lloyd Mackey and Darrell Woodward captured the relay title.
