James Claude Wilkerson Jr. 46 longtime Comanche Chief managing editor died Thursday night at a local hospital. Funeral 3 p.m. Friday at First Methodist Church with Rev Plez Todd officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. He was born May 4 1917 in Dawson Texas and lived in Comanche most of his life. He earned a journalism degree from UT in 1938 and was active in sports in high school and college.

Plans Underway For Quarter Horse Show At Rodeo Grounds
Comanche Roping Club plans an American Quarter Horse Show for Saturday April 25 at the Rodeo Grounds with 14 halter classes and 9 junior classes judged by T C Jenkins. Registration led by Fay Oglesby, performance events include reining western pleasure barrel racing roping and cutting for adults and youth. A separate cutting contest sponsored by North Texas Cutting Horse Association will be held Friday night April 24. The club is building 20 new stalls for contestants. Funeral attendance noted for L E Chandler in Valparaiso Indiana Fort Worth and family present.
