Big Prizes for Stevens County Fair Week in Colo
Stevens County stock and fair association announces over $500 in prizes for eight annual Colo fair events from September 28 to October 1. Secretary John Raftis states a full amusement program with numerous sports, races every 15 minutes, and a relay finale. Horse entries must be in by September 21 to join the competitive showcases.

Mrs Clara Gilson Dies While On Auto Trip in Philadelphia
A Barnes Pa. family wire reports Mrs Clara Gilson mother of Mrs Walter DeLand died suddenly in Philadelphia early last week. Interment was held Saturday. Mrs Gilson enjoyed the auto trip and arrived in good health before the journey from Colville began last July toward a transcontinental tour with her daughter Miss Gilson.

Colville High Graduates Head to Ten Colleges and Universities
Colville high school graduates will attend ten colleges and universities this fall including the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor University of Washington and Reed College. Washington state college will enroll ten graduates led by Harold Kohlstedt in rural ec o nomics and others in geology engineering English and physical education. Additional students will study at North Pacific Dental College Whitman college Seattle Pacific Willamette Reed Spokane University Cheney Normal School and more. About 644 students from the city schools had registered by midweek with 244 in the high school 98 in the junior high and 306 in the grammar school.

High School Class Officers Elected at Colville
Colville high school held its annual class officer elections with eight girls and seven boys winning offices. Margaret Taylor leads the senior class for the third consecutive year, while Emma Hofstetter heads the juniors and Gerald Exley presides over the sophomores. There are 141 girls and 104 boys in the school, with seniors remaining among the smallest male classes.

Hayes Family Heads to Moneaqua for Winter
Mr and Mrs T S Hayes with their daughter son Ralph Brady and child Everett Hayes depart Colville by Buick for Moneaqua Illinois to winter there via Ogden Cheyenne Denver and Kansas City route. They have lived in Colville eight years and return to Moneaqua where their family has long resided.

Fallen Heroes Buried Monday In Colville Murals
Funeral services held Monday for Edgar Theobald Thomas Ernest Davis and Joseph Elbert Christman at Quinn W. McCord parlors. About 400 to 500 people attended the largest funeral crowd yet in Colville with Frank Starr post 47 American Legion organizing and color guards, firing squad and taps. Interments followed at Highland and Evergreen cemeteries as Rev J M Huggins preached on patriotism.
