Fire Devastates Huckleberry Range Killing One Man

A wind driven blaze on Huckleberry mountain destroyed seven homesteads near Addy and Greenwood. John Amacher, 60, was found dead, and losses reached between 8600 and 70 000 dollars. Firefighters fought windsuaded fires through Tuesday, with fears of more outbreaks and dangers to nearby residents.

Anti-Tuberculosis League to Hold September Meeting in Colville

The Stevens County Anti Tuberculosis League will convene at the Congregational church in Colville on Friday September 9 with a 2 30 afternoon session and dinner at 6 80 by the Ladies Aid. State officials and local nurse Miss Glockner will report on six months’ work and plans for the coming year. Executives plan a profitable session and urge all members to attend. H J Plumb sails for Yakima Tuesday to handle county business.

Two Boy Bandits Shot Wounding Springdale Woman

Verde Moser aged 16 and Jakey Clark aged 12 carried out a two week spree of theft and violence near Springdale. Moser pleaded guilty and received four to fifteen years in Monroe state reformatory. Clark was paroled to his parents with monthly reports to the probation officer. Mrs. L. H. Anderson was seriously wounded by a .22 rifle shot during an attempted car theft at her home.

Methodists Report A Most Successful Year In Colville

The first M. E. church of Colville ended a record year with 293 members from 130 at start, the largest proportional gain in the Wenatchee district. Rev G E Whitten’s arrival is praised, services filled the church, and finances closed with a surplus. State officials Kinney and Mayhall praised Colville hatchery as one of the best equipped in the state.

Colville Beats Rossland 18 to 8 in Sunday Clash

Colville's bats sparked by Charles Rogers and Norman Moss propelled a 18 8 win over Rossland at Rossland on Sunday. Rogers homered or drove in runs while Moss fanned six and added two hits. Colville extends win streak to eleven on Canadian soil and eyes thirteen straight against Trail next.
