Deputies tracked moonshine activity near Chewelah creek twelve miles northeast of Chewelah. Fern Shirley, Alfred Colbath, George Bryant, and Lewis Lindquist were arrested or charged with liquor manufacture and possession. 500 gallons of mash and 70 gallons of whiskey were seized. Jail terms were suspended on some sentences.
