The first mortgage under the Federal Farm Loan act was filed in Stevens County for Henry Stokoe on May 26 1917 securing a 1000 note to the Federal Land Bank of Spokane. The Colville based Stevens County National Farm Loan Association forms with officers including Chris McDowell and William B MacBoyle, as plans expand across Stevens County to expedite farmer loans.
