Starch Factory to Open in Inland Empire
Starch made from locally grown potatoes will hit the market this fall. Lundin Bros of Spokane have bought a site at 1805 East Sprague Avenue and will start constructing a potato starch factory. Machinery is en route and operations are planned by September 1 with a ten ton daily capacity. The plant will buy culled potatoes at fair prices and will not use first grade potatoes. It will be the first such factory west of the Mississippi.

Colville Boy Chosen for Show Squadron at Bolling Field
Fred Knauss of Colville and two others were selected as motor cyclists for the new show squadron at Bolling Field near Washington. The unit trains 71 expert mechanics from Kelley Field to man 18 aeroplanes for visiting Allied airmen and exhibition flights. Each man starts as private with a school graduation note in his service record.
