Four Die in Waltenburg House Fire in West Astor Block
The Waltenburg family home on West Astor was destroyed by a blaze that killed Mrs. Waltenburg and two sons George and Arnold. Lawrence died later at a neighbor’s. three older children escaped naked. Fire crews recovered bodies. Sheriff sent for the father and other children from Tiger Camp. Funeral planned for the three deceased at McCord parlors with Highland interment.

Red Cross knitting department in Colville reports shipments since October 16 totaling 361 sweaters, 44 scarves, 114 wristlets and 335 pairs of socks for the U S army and navy. The last delivery included 25 sweaters, 4 sock pairs and two wristlet pairs. Edward Trembley, limited by a past accident, knit sweaters for servicemen and is praised for his spirit.
