Stevens County Leads State In Hunting And Fishing Licenses
Stevens County issued 6,034 licenses in the fiscal year ending March 1919, one third of King County’s total despite a population about one twentieth as large. The county hosts 22 streams and 15 lakes stocked with trout, with annual fry plantings up to 1.5 million. The state reports 15,679,875 trout fry released statewide, and Stevens County’s hatchery at Colville contributed to that effort.
