Mother of Pioneers Mrs. Gendron Dies at 91 in Marcus
Mrs. Alex Gendron, last surviving Hudson Bay pioneer, died at home in Marcus Sunday night at 9 30. Funeral held in Colville with Rev Father Fletcher officiating. Born in 1822 in the Okanogan valley she married Alex Gendron in 1844. nine of twelve children survived. Her reminiscences recalled 1840s famine and early frontier life.
