Murder Near Springdale in First Degree Suspected
The body of Lewis B. Nelson with a throat wound was found in his cabin and moved to Prindle parlors. Sheriff Miller Prosecuting Attorney Stull and Coroner West investigated but found no clue. Officials deem the act likely first degree manslaughter with possible robbery motive after an axe damaged a trunk. Nelson resided four miles from Springdale on Loon Lake road.

Mining party reports rich ore at Boundary claims
A party of local businessmen led by Dr. L A Kerr Dr H A Day Dr W Mighell and C L Baker returned from Boundary with upbeat findings on the International Mining and Milling Company claims. Assays of gold ore run from 203 to over 700 per ton and a large concentrator is planned to cut haulage costs ahead of spring. the principal gold ledge is eight inches at the surface widening to twenty four inches at depth.

Mr and Mrs O P Barrick recently left Colville to settle in Newberg Oregon He worked in an eight foot sewer ditch when the walls caved in burying him under several tons of earth Rescue crews freed him promptly and he received medical care but remains feeble from the shock of the incident
