Timber owners organize to protect standing timber and contract with the state for patrol. The Stevens County Forest Protection association, formed August 5, names officers and a four patrolman agreement, with patrol scope, costs, and enforcement provisions amid recent fires.

Two Killed At Crossing In Spokane Area
Atty A H Kenyon and Mrs Henry Carstens of Spokane die in a train car collision when Northbound train 266 hits their Buick near Springdale on Saturday at 10 31. Carstens driving eastbound had little warning and the engine crew testified the whistle and bell were sounded. Kenyon a longtime Spokane attorney and mining figure is survived by his wife and four children. Mrs Carstens died later at Valley hospital. Mr Carstens survives with five children. The railway commission absolved the railroad of blame.

Dale Jones has purchased D. K. Zuck’s interest in the TopNoch Flour mills and Zuck will move to Salmon City Idaho. Jones and Zuck took over the mills in 1914 and have built a large local industry serving farmers and supplying flour and cereals. Lester Cohrs is miller and Wilbur Bird assistant miller with a book keeper to be added. Zuck leaves with many friends’ best wishes.
