Ice disaster at Schuylkill dam area devastates crowd

The Baltimore Sun reports a massive ice collapse on the Schuylkill near Fairmount dam in Philadelphia. Women and children were among those stranded as ice floes broke away, many leaping into frigid water or clinging to the dam structure. Death of Dr A E Bailey Georgian tribute obituary

He died after a bout of consumption abroad and will be buried this afternoon at 34 o clock with military honors as late Captain of the Georgia Hussars. Merancoott Cassvatrr-On Wednesday last Mr Hower V Monet of Effingham county while hunting fell and his gun discharged killing him instantly. He was a member of the Irish Jasper Greens in Mexico and was held at Perote. Savannah Republican 22d inst.
