Fire at Omaha Public School building under investigation

Authorities say a two alarm fire at the Alpha Center in north central Omaha used by the Omaha Public School District may have been set intentionally. Firefighters found a door open when they arrived Saturday night and the two story brick building sustained heavy damage to offices and training equipment while garages below suffered smoke and water damage.

Autumn Weather Grips Nebraska Across State

A high pressure system blankets Nebraska with autumn warmth and clear to partly cloudy skies through Thursday. Forecasters expect a chance of showers Friday, with overnight lows ranging from 38 to 68 and daytime highs in the mid 70s. Cease-fire in South Lebanon Holds Amid Pullback

An American mediated cease-fire took effect in south Lebanon with Israeli troops withdrawing from the battle zone. Beirut officials confirmed the halt after a one hour meeting with President Sarkis. U S Ambassador Parker said the truce was observed by all sides as Palestinians and Lebanese leftists and Israeli backed rightists signaled calm.
