About 80 people gathered at Platte College for the first of seven state meetings by the Department of Roads and the Nebraska Highway Commission to address graveled roads in District 3. Primrose Cedar Rapids and other near routes drew most questions about deteriorating surfaces and calls for hard surfacing.

Creston Depot Demolished Memory Lane From Creston
Creston remembers its North Western Railroad depot as the focal point of town life. The 62 year old freight addition and the rest of the building at least 89 years old were torn down after doors bore the 1887 name S. H. Gillette. The depot linked Creston to Fremont and Omaha, with trains at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. Mail arrived twice daily and townsfolk gathered for notes of progress and nostalgia as they recalled trains to Leigh and Humphrey and outings to Oakdale.
