The Nebraska Game Commission rejected a plan by Central United States Training and Experimental Range to lease land north of Branched Oak Dam for a multi purpose shooting complex on an 180 acre tract. Local landowners raised noise and safety concerns while the commission supported range concept but not Branched Oak land approval.
