Defendants in Pentagon Papers case sue for $1 million
Dr Daniel Ellsberg and Anthony Russo along with 17 attorneys and consultants sue the U S government for 1 million dollars alleging illegal electronic eavesdropping. The National Emergency Civil Liberties Committee filed the suit in Washington D C, noting the Los Angeles trial has been postponed while a Supreme Court decision is considered. The suit targets eight government agency heads and former U S attorney general John N Mitchell claiming overheard conversations on wiretaps violated free speech and right to counsel, including matters relevant to their defense.
