Plan to label seed corn for corn blight vulnerability
The Agriculture Department approved a voluntary plan with ASTA to label 1971 seed corn by the percentage from T cytoplasm breeding stock. T cytoplasm hybrids, about 80 percent of the year’s seed, are vulnerable to southern corn leaf blight. other hybrids are largely resistant. Labels may include extra nonmisleading information.
