Three day rock festival at Shenandoah ends up canceled
Shenandoah Iowa promoters announced a Labor Day rock festival planned at the Shenandoah drive-in will not happen due to unclear Iowa laws enacted by the 1971 legislature. Promoter Jim Davis of Clarinda said lack of legal clarity and upcoming court concerns around the Wadena rock festival made compliance impossible. Davis noted initial plans included 40 000 tickets and long daily music hours but no cars would be allowed in the drive-in and publicity was informal. He said a future festival may be attempted after the next school year if legal hurdles are resolved.
