In Edmonton Alberta a PanArctic Oils Ltd aircraft from Edmonton to Rea Point crashed two miles short of Byam Point runway, 32 of 34 aboard were killed. Two survivors in serious condition were flown to University Hospital Edmonton for treatment. The crash occurred in the Byam channel between Rea Point and Melville Island in the high Arctic.
