Legion appoints Hoyd Pospishil as vice chairman

Hoyd Pospishil, the new judge advocate of the American Legion Nebraska department, was named vice chairman of the National Americanism Council. He'll serve through the 1978 fall National Executive Committee meeting after confirmation in Indianapolis this month. He previously held a similar post in 1960 with the Americanism Commission meeting in Denver.

CTCCA board reviews 1976 77 enrollment in Grand Island

CTCCA board of governors met in Grand Island to hear a summary of 1976 77 educational services for the 24 county CTCC area. Administrative Assistant Donald Nelson reported a 7.7 percent rise in unduplicated headcount and noted 6 percent of area residents were served. The district reached 68 cooperative centers, with 11 795 served by Community Education andSpecific campus enrollments listed for Hastings Platte College Columbus and Grand Island centers.

Hearing Set On Nursing Board Policies In Nebraska

Nebraska Public Health and Welfare Committee will hear testimony from proponents and opponents on the State Board of Nursing policies. The session will be at 1:30 p.m. October 27 in Columbus at Equitable Savings and Loan building. A second issue covers Laetrile cancer treatment under Legislative Resolution 41 with interim study details requested. House approves higher duty free limits for returning citizens

The House approved a measure raising the duty free limit for American citizens returning from overseas to 250 dollars from 100, with Senate action pending. The bill also increases duty free allowances for travelers from American Samoa, Guam, and the Virgin Islands to 500 dollars, caps cigarettes at 200 duty free, and tightens cigarette import rules for non residents.
