Kansas City AP reports the 46th annual FFA convention opens Wednesday with a proposed constitutional change to proportionally select delegates by state membership, challenging the current two-delegate rule. Millard Airport Project Gets State and Federal Funding

Governor Exon announced SH12 010 funding for Millard airport in Omaha. The plan widens runways and taxiways, extends the apron, adds access roads and drainage improvements, and upgrades runway and approach lighting. Work starts after FAA funds are allocated with 75 percent federal, 10 percent state, and 5 percent local money.

Whalley fined and sentenced in federal case

Washington AP reports former Representative Irving Whalley of Pennsylvania was fined 5000 and sentenced to years probation after pleading guilty to one count of mail fraud and two counts of obstructing justice. Five traffic deaths across Nebraska over the weekend push the 1974 highway toll to 33. In Omaha two youths Merle Miller and Mark were killed when a skidding car struck their motorcycles on a northwest street. A driver, Michel Thoslind, was booked, while a witness, Charles Burivet, was sought. another youth, Lyo Dimha Jr., was in custody. Another fatality occurred on a Pierce county gravel road near Hadar, and an autopsy was ordered for a one car Grand Island crash amid suspected heart attack. Barbara J.
