Judge denies ISCON bid to halt airport literature ban
UPI Omaha District Judge Albert G. Schatz refused a temporary restraining order sought by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness against Eppley Airfield rules. ISCON claimed First and Fourteenth Amendment violations over permissions to distribute religious literature, but the judge found no substantial probability of success and allowed two weeks to amend the complaint naming the airport authority.

Fresh twist on the gold brick swindle in Los Angeles
Rail bondsman Leo Liebowitz told police a variant of the classic genuine gold brick scam. He posted a $23,000 bond to gain Paul Harmon’s release from Terminal Island federal prison using a solid platinum bar with $25 assay papers. An independent test later showed the bar was bead. Harmon faced airline ticket fraud charges.
