Shaker Museum Keeps Living Link To Past In New York

The Shaker Museum at Old Chatham New York preserves a moving link to Shaker life and culture. Founder John S Williams began collecting objects in the 1930s and the collection became the nucleus of the 1950 opening. The museum features twenty major galleries with rooms and tools from daily life including a medicine room and cobbler shop. Williams notes the display aims to show Shaker work and simple living, not just furniture. Shaker communities today include Sabbathday Lake and Canterbury with other museums across several states.

Private water systems offer advantages for homes outside municipal supply

For homeowners outside city water networks a private, well based system offers several benefits. A submersible pump in a small diameter well powers an on off control and storage tank, delivering higher pressure and independence from water restrictions. Costs are lower than treated surface water and the system enables flexible site choices and consistent appliance use.
