Schuyler Postmaster Marvin Capoun announced the retirement of Rudy Becker after eight years with the department. Becker’s last day on the city route was today and he will be replaced on a permanent basis by Marius Kruger, who has worked as a flexible clerk carrier.
Gretchen Marie Kuhr infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Art Kuhr of Lincoln was baptized at First Plymouth Congregational Church Lincoln by Rev Otis BE Young. Gretchen born Oct 2 joins year old sister Anna. Attending from area were great grandparents Fritz Hollmann Columbus Frank Kuhr Platte Center and Dennis Kuhr Creston plus extended family.
Sen Walter Mondale withdraws leaving Sen Henry Jackson as the leading liberal hopeful. Jackson hires DNC director Robert Keefe as political director and plans a December Kansas City mini convention. Udall eyed as potential entrant amid a crowded field including Carter Bentsen Harris White and Wallace.
Chicago traders see varied bids across live cattle, live hogs, and frozen pork bellies with scattered bids and asks. Dec cattle around 39.40 to 39.90. Feb hogs near 42.80. Mar through Aug futures show fluctuating levels. frozen pork bellies around mid 60s to mid 64s.
