Nebraska cattle producers will learn to boost profits through a three part color series titled Cattleman's Calendars on the Nebraska Educational Television Network beginning January 22 1970. Del Bearborn and John McLaughlin host eight EVN stations airing through February 9 with sessions on beef cow management feeding and marketing plus practical steps for improving pasture management and calf nutrition. Participants may register through their County Extension office with a $1 fee, aims to help cowmen join the viewing group and apply new husbandry methods.

Iowa firm fined on egg charges
Clarion based New Clarion Produce Company was fined 25 per charge and more than five dozen eggs were confiscated by the State Agriculture Department. Officials said the eggs from a local producer were contaminated due to dirt and cracks and were deemed unfit for consumption.

NU judges place third at Midwest Livestock Contest in Manhattan

Kreshel named Nebraska’s outstanding swine producer at the Nebraska Pork Producers Association annual banquet. The Saline County farm youth, a freshman at the University of Nebraska, honored during the event. Behlen Manufacturing Company of Columbus grants a $254 scholarship to the outstanding young pork producer. Four other producers received Pork Award honors: Warren Cerny Crete, Twberl Cry Toster Delmar Tones Wynore and Donald Wilson Gilter. James Volk of Battle Creek named Nebraska’s master pork All-American loan program recognition for swine raisers under 40.

Egg production in October declines in Nebraska
Nebraska's October egg output fell as the number of laying hens dropped three percent to 402,000. Hens averaged 107 eggs per hen, up from last year, while commercial hatcheries produced about 199,000 chicks, 22 percent fewer than October 1968. First ten months total 9,043,000 chicks, up slightly from a year earlier.
